In 1992 Kennedy O'Callaghan led a multi-disciplinary design team for a feasibility study to rationalise the estate of English national Opera, while working as an associate partner at Sheppard Robson Architects.

The project entailed a series of interviews to establish the accommodation requirements for each department including technical, stage lighting, sound, prop making, wardrobe, wig making, chorus and rehearsal facilities.

In parallel we undertook a detailed appraisal of ENO's accommodation, including front-of-house and back-stage at the London Coliseum and off-site at the West Hampstead rehearsal studios and at the Hackney prop making and wardrobe facilities.

The study resulted in a comprehensive £25m plan for the re-development of the London Coliseum supported by a new pre-production centre in Hackney.
