In 1995 Kennedy O'Callaghan assisted Herzog and deMeuron on Tate Modern, while working as an associate partner at Sheppard Robson Architects.

His work entailed an extensive series of workshops with senior Tate staff to establish the operational requirements for each department including education, art handling, retail, corporate entertaining and for technical requirements such as fire engineering and environmental controls.

Following the workshops he audited the design proposals to ensure that the ideas addressed in the workshop were incorporated in the design.
